Specialisms
The sectors we know properly
Four industries where the accounting is genuinely different.
Most accountants say they work with everyone. We'd rather tell you where we're actually strong.
There are industries where the accounting is the same as everywhere else, and industries where it isn't — where a specific scheme, a specific HMRC treatment or a specific reporting quirk changes the whole shape of the job. These are the four where we've done enough of the work to be genuinely useful, rather than learning on your time.
If your business isn't on this list, that doesn't mean we can't help — most of our client base is ordinary owner-managed companies, and the core compliance work is the same wherever you trade. It just means we won't claim a specialism we don't have.

Sector knowledge isn't about jargon. It's about knowing, before you ask, which treatment HMRC will accept and which one invites a letter. A tronc scheme that's structured wrongly costs a restaurant real money in NIC. A CIS deduction applied to the wrong element of an invoice takes months to unwind. An R&D claim written by someone who doesn't understand the software development lifecycle is the kind of claim HMRC is now actively rejecting.
None of that is exotic work. It's just work you want done by someone who has done it before — which is the entire argument for choosing a firm on specialism rather than on proximity.
