A new head office

2 min read

Opus Accountancy now works from 17 King Street in Knutsford.

The reason is fairly ordinary. When the question of our premises came round, the terms in front of us would have meant either carrying a cost that kept climbing or passing it on to you. Neither felt like the right answer, so we went looking for a better home for the firm. King Street is it.

It suits the work, too. Knutsford and the WA16 catchment hold one of the densest concentrations of independent owner-managed businesses outside London, which is exactly who we've spent fifty years working with. Manchester Airport is 15 minutes away; Liverpool and Chester are roughly 30 minutes by car; Euston is under two hours from Wilmslow. Most of the time none of that matters, because the work runs on Xero, email and the phone. It matters on the day you want to sit across a table from someone.

Here's where we are now.

Knutsford — head office. 17 King Street, Knutsford WA16 6DW. Cheshire and the WA16 catchment, out through Mere, Plumley, Mobberley, Tabley and Lower Peover. 01565 383970

Liverpool. 20 Chapel Street, Liverpool L3 9AG. Merseyside, the Wirral and Chester, covering the Baltic Triangle, the Knowledge Quarter and the waterfront. 0151 452 2333

Manchester. 13th Floor, Piccadilly Plaza, New York Street M1 4BT. City centre and the Northern Quarter, Salford and MediaCityUK, Trafford and Altrincham, and south Manchester where it runs into the Cheshire fringe towards Wilmslow, Hale, Alderley Edge and Macclesfield. Two minutes from Piccadilly station. 0161 515 9050

London. 13 Hanover Square, Mayfair W1S 1HN. For clients in and around the capital. 020 3357 1919

There's one number that reaches all of it: 0300 180 0200, then choose your office from the menu.

On numbers generally — the ones above are new, but your existing number still works and still reaches your own team. Nothing to update, and nobody ends up in a call centre queue.

What hasn't changed is what matters most. We've been chartered accountants since 1976, and we've never thought the job was filing your accounts on time. It's knowing your business well enough to see what's coming before you have to ask. That comes from years of paying attention to the same people, and no amount of software or scale can substitute for it.

Same team, same numbers, same understanding of what you do. Just a better place to do it from.

Does this affect your business?

General commentary is no substitute for advice on your own position. If you'd like to talk it through, we're happy to.
